Rahu kaal: what it is and what it is not

An inauspicious window, not a curse. Calculated from your sunrise.

How it is calculated

Daylight — from local sunrise to sunset — is divided into eight equal parts. One part each weekday belongs to Rahu: the 8th on Sunday, 2nd on Monday, 7th on Tuesday, 5th on Wednesday, 6th on Thursday, 4th on Friday and 3rd on Saturday.

Why it differs by city

Because it depends on sunrise and sunset, Rahu kaal shifts with your location and the season. Always check it for your own city.

How to use it

Tradition advises against beginning important new ventures in this window. Routine work continues as normal. Treat it as a gentle scheduling guide, not a source of worry.
